Divorce finalized for San Antonio Spurs star, Tim Duncan and wife

Marriage can be difficult and, occasionally, two people may find that they no longer work as a married couple. When this happens, people will often file for divorce from their spouse to obtain a legal end to the marriage, allowing both parties the opportunity to move on however they choose. There is more to a divorce, however, than just filing the petition. A settlement must be reached finalizing the couple’s separation, including dividing marital resources, determining whether spousal support payments are in order and deciding child custody, among other details.

San Antonio Spurs’ star, Tim Duncan’s divorce from his college sweetheart was finalized recently. According to reports, Duncan’s now ex-wife initially filed for divorce in March. No specific reasoning was listed in either her, or Duncan’s, filings. It was not reported whether they had a prenuptial agreement and there was no information reported regarding the settlement. In the course of the couple’s 12-year marriage, it is likely that they accumulated properties and other resources that will have to be divided as a part of the settlement.

In addition to homes and other assets, Duncan and his former wife also share a son and daughter. It is unknown to the public at this time whether Duncan or his ex were awarded primary custody or if they will share joint custody of the children.

Even when there is little contention between the two people who are divorcing, there are a number of details that have to be settled. If you and your spouse are considering a divorce, it may be helpful to consult with an experienced attorney. A lawyer can look out for your interests and assist you in reaching a settlement, as well as answer any questions that you may have.
