Man asks Texas judge to make ex-wife pay back child support

Many parents express concern regarding the process of raising a child after having undergone a divorce. It is not uncommon for two parents to disagree about the essential responsibilities and finances associated with the future care of their child. This may lead to legal proceedings that establish child support arrangements, which are designed to uphold the best interests of the child.

Last spring in Manhattan, a 59-year-old multimillionaire was given temporary custody of his two children. A ruling from a justice of the Manhattan Supreme Court is impending, and the custody trial has ended. The man has requested that a Texas judge obligate his 38-year-old ex-wife to recompense all of the support funds that he has provided since last April, and to allow him discontinue paying her $5,000 per month for child support. The ex-wife’s Texas lawyer stated that the woman requires those funds to preserve her residence.

The couple divorced in 2011 after a marriage that lasted six years. The man evidently owns multimillion-dollar residences in both Houston and Mexico. His ex-wife conveyed that the financial maneuver is ruthless and vengeful, though not as calamitous as taking away children from a mother. She claims that she would be penniless and incapable of affording the apartment that she wishes to share with the children if her ex-husband’s bid prevails.

Child support guidelines can help ensure that a parent can afford every day expenses associated with meeting their child’s short-term and long-term needs. Some parents may enter into a child support dispute that results from dissension about which individual can most adequately provide for their child.
