Doctor who owes back child support loses medical license

Separating from a spouse can be incredibly tough for many reasons, from property division to courtroom battles. However, for couples with children there is often much more to take into consideration. After all, parents who care about their children always want to do what is in the best interests of the child. In McKinney, TX, people who are preparing for a divorce could be wondering how child support will be calculated or have other questions pertaining to child support guidelines. Anyone dealing with this should review the laws and develop a solid understanding of what to expect in court.

An Oklahoma doctor who has been neglecting child support obligations recently lost his medical license because of the missed payments. According to the Department of Human Services, the doctor owes $20,000 in back child support.

The Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure revoked his license following a judge's order. A member of the board claims that the revocation will have a significant impact on the doctor's career and that the license can be reinstated once he establishes a payment plan or pays what is owed.

The consequences of failure to pay child support can be severe. On top of financial ramifications, the penalties could even include jail time. As a result, it is imperative for parents to do everything they can to avoid this dilemma. However, someone's financial situation may change, which could make an increase or decrease in child support payments necessary. Modifying a child support order can be complicated, which is why anyone going through this may want to talk to a legal professional.
