Settlement reached in Halle Berry's child support legal battle

For Dallas parents, sorting out child support issues after a divorce can be very difficult and stressful. They may be interested in the results of a settlement between one Hollywood actress and her former boyfriend over financial support for their child.

Halle Berry, a 47-year-old actress, has come to an agreement with former boyfriend Gabriel Aubry regarding their daughter's financial needs. The settlement has been approved by a judge and requires Berry to pay Aubry's attorneys' fees totaling $300,000. Berry will also pay $16,000 a month in child support, along with a $115,000 retroactive child support payment. The former couple will split the child's medical costs, but Berry will be paying for her daughter's education.

Berry and Aubry met while on a photoshoot for Versace in 2005. They dated for years after having a baby together in 2008 but ended the relationship two years later. The legal fight began in 2012 when Berry tried to move to France with her daughter and her soon-to-be third husband, Olivier Martinez. This relocation was blocked by a court, and the girl's parents have been attempting to settle their child support and custody issues since. This settlement only addresses child support.

There are many issues related to child support that may require the help of an attorney with experience in family law. The financial needs of a child can be great, so the attorney may be able to help with the calculation of child support or enforcement of an existing agreement. The attorney may be able to negotiate and draft agreements between parents or represent a party in court if necessary.
