Sweetin, Coyle dispute custody and alimony in divorce filings

When couples in Collin County decide their marriage is no longer working, they often choose to divorce. In the majority of cases, there are issues that need to be sorted out in order to reach a settlement. Couples may disagree on things, including child custody, spousal support and property division, and require the assistance of a family law court to reach an agreement.

Not long after announcing their marriage to the public, actress, Jodie Sweetin and her third husband, musician, Marty Coyle have reportedly filed for divorce. The pair wed in March of 2012 and share a daughter. The filing is only the beginning of the family legal issues for Sweetin, as her soon to be ex-husband has reportedly contested her request for full custody of their daughter. Coyle has requested shared custody.

In addition to the custody dispute, a family law court will also have to help determine whether or not to award the former “Full House” star spousal support. In her filing, she reportedly also requested alimony payments. The amount of monthly support she asked for remains unknown to the public, as well as any details regarding property and other assets to be divided. He, however, has filed a motion of his own, asking the court to prevent her from seeking spousal support.

Often, making the decision to file for divorce is only the start of the battle. With all of the details that need to be addressed in order to reach a settlement, it can be difficult for people to reach an agreement. If you are considering a divorce, it may be beneficial to obtain legal representation. An experienced attorney can help to explain your options and will look out for your interests in court.
